The brain of the New Zealand White rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus), aged between 8-12 weeks and of both sexes, is collected, cleaned, and frozen within 30 minutes after slaughter. Only brains collected under humane slaughter conditions, ensuring animal welfare from the farm to the bleeding process at the slaughterhouse, are used. The animals must be treated humanely, minimizing unnecessary suffering as much as possible before slaughter.
After biochemical processing, using proprietary technology fully developed at Biocontinental, the final product is “Acetone Dehydrated Rabbit Brain Powder – Thromboplastin,” which will be used as a raw material in the production of In Vitro diagnostic reagents for determination of human or animal coagulation activity.
